U-6A Beaver Aircraft


The De Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver is a single-engine, high wing, propeller STOL aircraft developed by de Havilland Canada, known primarily as a plane. Used for freight and passenger transport, aerial application (aerial spraying and topdressing), and has been widely adopted by the armed forces as a utility aircraft. The U.S. Army purchased several hundred, nine DHC-2 are still in service with the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary (Civil Air Patrol) for search and rescue. An expedition Royal New Zealand Air Force Beaver supported Sir Edmund Hillary to the South Pole. Over 1,600 Beavers were produced until 1967, when the original line of closure [1].

Due to its success, the Royal Canadian Mint commemorates the beaver in a special fourth edition of Canada in November 1999.
