The M224 60mm Lightweight Mortar is a horizontal bore, muzzle loading, high-angle-of-fire weapon. The cannon congregation is collected of the barrel blend base cap, and dismissal device. The mount consists of a bi pod and a base plate which is provided with screw type educational and traverse mechanisms to raise/navigate the mortar. The M64 sight unit is attach to the bi pod mount via an average dovetail. A further short range sight is attached to the base of the cannon tube for firing the mortar on the shift and during assault. It has a spring-type shock absorber to take up the shock of recoil in firing.
